In the words of the Beatles, “it was twenty years ago today, that Sgt Pepper taught the band to play…”, not quite twenty for us but it was eighteen years ago today that triyoga Primrose Hill opened it’s doors.
It’s funny thinking about that opening day – we didn’t have any form of computer system to log people coming in, no on line bookings, the therapists diary that was a big handwritten book, just about a website, baskets with wooden ‘stones’ that we handed to students when they paid and then they handed the ‘stones’ to the teachers who then….handed back to us in a basket.
So many things have changed (and some haven’t) so many things have come and gone, people and dogs left for another realm, more dogs, studios moved, studios grown, studios opened, cafes opened, computers at FOH (not serving you but helping us to serve you), on line booking, hot yoga, meditation rooms, and so much learned and so much more to be learned.
What hasn’t changed for me is that I and we love what we do and to be able to say that about ‘work’ is pretty cool..
So happy birthday everyone – we still have teachers (like Nadia Narain, Leela Miller, Robin Catto, Jean Hall and Louise Grime), therapists (like Phil Bishop and John Wadsworth) and students from that first weekend – who don’t seem to have aged but have clearly grown. And to whom we are so grateful for being part of something that is dedicated to uplifting people.
And to the teachers, therapists and staff who now carry that flame, that desire to serve and uplift that is our mission at triyoga – thank you.
And to the students and clients, it might sound trite but I promise it’s not meant in that way – thank you for coming to triyoga and happy birthday to us all.
There were and are lot’s of trial and tribulations but it was fun and we’d like to keep it fun.
And finally, I was asked by our recent visiting guest teacher J Brown to record a podcast with him with loads of questions so if you’d like to listen click here.
