What life-altering things should every human ideally get to experience at least once in their lives?

The “Manipura Loop.”

This is an activity that evolved in our Blissology yoga school. It’s loosely based on the chakras mixed with anatomical knowledge, breathing techniques, presence and somatic meditation skills. For those who don’t believe that we are energetically connected, it will be a massive paradigm shift. For those that do believe this, it is an affirmation of the interconnection we share at the heart level.

It is a partner activity where one person places their hands on the adrenal glands of another. This corresponds to the backside of the manipura chakra, the seat of the ego drive. We get the breath low and slow into lower back body, which soothes the adrenals. When stress is completely out of the body and we naturally tune into our own bodily feedback, something beautiful happens.

I won’t put words on what happens next but it is sublime. We feel profoundly connected to each other, to our innermost heart and to all life. It always blows me away and I can’t wait to share this technique¾it is total bliss.

What’s your favourite quote?

“Nothing to Prove, Everything to Share.” This is my own mantra that I repeat daily. In my practice and in my teaching there is so much pressure to be the type of person that other people want me to be. When I am motivated by the approval of others, what I offer is never as powerful because it is not truly me and I am not in my power when I act from this place.

This mantra completely refocuses me on what really matters and removes all pressure. All I have to do is share what truly lights me up in a way that is authentic to me.

Teaching yoga is a competitive and crowded field. It’s so easy to feel the need to do what will make us popular. Before every class, I close me eyes and repeat “nothing to prove, everything to share.”

I remind myself that what I do have to share is Love. At the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to bring more Love into the world. My life mission is to be a “conduit for love.” I want to let it come through me and not just from me. I can’t fail because I truly believe I am not the doer – it’s a beautiful space to occupy.

Where is your happy place?

My happy place is teaching and writing, it’s what lights me up more than anything. I believe that Yoga is the Art of getting out of our own way. When I am teaching it feels like it was exactly what I was meant to do. I love that I learn, share and connect deeply all the hearts and minds in the room.

What I have learned is that to do this well, I need to balance so many factors in my life. To release from the lower vibrations of jealously, fear, anger and regret and tune into what brings me joy and lightness of heart.

In the process, I feel so much better. I am ready to create what I call and “upward spiral”, where positive energy creates more positive energy in others, where I am lit up by the energy of others. The sum is so much larger than the parts and I feel grateful beyond belief for this change to be a conduit for love.

These are precisely the skills I want to share in the Commit to Bliss course in February.
