Asquith ask: are leggings the new denim?

Much like denim before it, activewear is increasingly being worn as part of an everyday wardrobe. The highly successful designer jeans industry is now being reflected in the rapidly growing activewear industry, with an explosion of high-end and celebrity led brands catering to every taste and sporting activity.

Nowhere is this more apparent than the normalisation of leggings as part of an everyday wardrobe. Once the preserve of the gym only, there has been a huge cultural shift and now leggings are everywhere. From street to studio, beach to office, restaurants, relaxing and everywhere in between – there is rarely an occasion where wearing your favourite leggings would be looked upon unfavourably now.

So with all this choice available, how do you choose the best active wear label for you?

At triyoga we sell activewear from Asquith. We love it as the collections have been designed specifically for yoga, Pilates and living in – so you can complete every yoga pose safe in the knowledge that you will be covered up and supported, but the designs are also elegant and versatile enough to wear everyday. What sets them apart is their promise of ‘people and the planet before profit’  – ethically manufacturing their activewear in Europe using the best quality eco performance fabrics.

Asquith fabrics are exclusively made from organic cotton and bamboo, which are Oeko-Tex certified, guaranteeing a low carbon footprint and biodegradable fibres. Bamboo, a fast growing and environmentally friendly fabric is ideal for active wear – it is naturally anti-bacterial, breathable and wicks away sweat from the body. Organic cotton is a durable fabric that keeps its shape and doesn’t fade, bobble or stretch. Both are sustainable, chemical free, and feel amazing on.

Asquith makes six different types of leggings, so you are spoilt for choice. Here are our favourites from this season’s Wanderlust collection – a range inspired by the vibrant colours and energy of Brazil.

flow with it leggings
