The start of the new year is a difficult time for many. We are back to work, battling the cold weather and the festive period is a distant memory. The most depressing day of January is widely known as Blue Monday, which is said to be the third Monday of the month. This year it falls on the 20th… only days away. To help you keep the blues at bay, our treatments team has curated this handy list of five therapies to beat Blue Monday.
1 – naturopathy
What is it? Naturopathy is a complete system of natural health care that prevents, balances and supports a multitude of conditions of the body and mind. By integrating conventional health sciences with nutritional, herbal and homeopathic remedies, naturopathy works to realign the client’s mental, emotional and physical being. A naturopath is trained to view each individual uniquely and to furthermore address the underlying cause of the issue, not simply the superficial symptoms that manifest.
What to expect? During the initial consultation, a thorough history is taken by the therapists and if required a physical examination where symptoms are present. The naturopath then designs an individualised treatment programme for you, highlighting recommended supplements, dietary and lifestyle advice and investigations where necessary.
What is it best for? Best for a variety of treatments from general health care, mental (anxiety) or physical (illness).

2 – emotional freedom technique (EFT)
What is it? EFT is a ‘modern meridian therapy’ which has its roots in Acupressure and Shiatsu. Fingertips are used to tap on meridian points whilst focusing on the problem (emotional or physical), releasing negative feelings and emotions, and rebalancing the energy system of the body.
What is it best for? EFT is a powerful therapy to help you release negativity and rebalance your energy system. If your thoughts have taken a dive, this could be the perfect treatment for you.

3 – aromatherapy massage
What is it? Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils, derived from plants, to affect your mood and alleviate pain. In aromatherapy massage, essential oils are mixed with a carrier oil like sweet almond, apricot kernel, or grapeseed oil. The massage therapist uses up to five oils in a mixture and chooses the oils based on what you need. A relaxing aromatherapy massage might have lavender or bergamot, for instance, while a massage for sore muscles might include peppermint and eucalyptus.
What is it best for? Aromatherapy can help reduce anxiety, boost energy levels, eliminate headaches, improve digestion and increase circulation amongst other benefits.

What is it? Studies show that CBD oil can reduce inflammation and pain, aids cell renewal, soothes anxiety and promotes better sleep. Incorporating a CBD oil with a full body massage or facial massage is the ultimate tension-relieving and relaxation-inducing treatment.
What to expect? You will receive a holistic massage using CBD oil which has a multitude of benefits such as pain relief, stress relief, insomnia and inflammation.
What is it best for? Full-body relaxation, calming mental chatter and relieving tension.
