Many people venture outside of London (and towards sunny, beach-y destinations), but for those that aren’t, we invite you to look inwards and implore what your personal mantra is. Here are three ways you can embody your mantra for the May bank holiday weekend at triyoga.
1. illustrate your mantra
triyoga teacher Leila Sadeghee and local illustrator and artist Mike Medaglia team up to offer the ‘illustrate your mantra for joy’ workshop. Explore the connection between mantra, yoga, and illustration, and how creativity can be a key to experiencing joy!
Mike’s favourite mantras: “Some of the images from my book have become my favourite quotes. They are mantras I carry with me all the time and constantly make me smile.”
Leila Sadeghee + Mike Medaglia: illustrate your mantra for joy, fri 28 apr 7.45 – 9.45pm in camden. Book now.
2. sing, chant + dance your mantra
Siri Sadhana Kaur is running a ‘mantra dance’ workshop, where she combines her passion of kundalini mantras, music and dance. The purpose of the mantra is to clear the garbage in the subconscious mind. Mantras have meaning and focus that when repeated over and over create a new groove and pattern.
Siri’s favourite mantra: “Sat Nam – its meaning is ‘truth is my reality’. It’s a great continual reminder that as we focus on a spiritual path, peel back the layers and illusions of life, our true essence is at the core of who we are. It’s known as a ‘Bij mantra’, which means a seed mantra. A seed contains the whole tree, as we plant a seed within our breath, within a thought or moment, we call on the greatness of our wholeness and spirit.”
Siri Sadhana Kaur: mantra dance, sun 30 apr 10.00am – 12.00pm in camden. Book now.
3. meditate your mantra
One of the most common ways to reflect and embody a mantra is through the practice of stillness, such as in meditation and mindfulness practices. Martin Aylward and Ayala Gill offer a full day of meditation, dialogue, exploration and yin yoga to allow ourselves to be free of rigidity, in order to fully open to our inner selves and our mantras within.
Ayala’s favourite mantras: “Here are some thoughts that come to mind relating to flexibility of view – ‘Meditation is less about answering all our questions; it’s more about questioning our answers’ and ‘Being curious is one of the greatest qualities for lifelong happiness’.”
Martin Aylward + Ayala Gill: love + let go, a day of transformative practice, sat 29 apr 11.00am – 6.00pm in camden. Book now.
