20 years is a long time…
We first opened our doors on 19th February 2000. What a day that was… one for the books.
Twenty years, five centres, over 750 classes with the very best yoga teachers (if we do say so ourself) and countless incredible students later – we are still here and still shining, so celebrations are definitely in order.
triyoga through the years
Here we share our milestones and stories of our teachers, students and therapists over the last two decades:
2000 – triyoga opens our doors in Primrose Hill, the first centre to host community classes and kids classes
2001 – triyoga welcomes our first guest teacher, John Scott
2005 – triyoga Soho opens with David Swenson leading its first-ever workshop
2006 – Our signature 350-hour diploma teacher training launches
2011 – triyoga brings more yoga to Chelsea with the opening of our centre on King’s Road
2011 – We heat things up and start offering triyoga hot at all our centres, using far infrared technology
2013 – Our book ‘everyone triyoga’ is published, featuring some many of the teachers you all know and love
2014 – We moved from Primrose Hill to the old piano factory in Camden that is now our biggest centre, going strong
2016 – We held our first yoga symposium: an event where we invite our community to sit and discuss important topics within the yoga world with a curated panel teacher and experts
2017 – We continue to grow the triyoga community by opening our Shoreditch and Ealing centres
Our stories
It’s the community that makes triyoga and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our long-term students for being with triyoga from the very beginning. Here are a few anecdotes from some of our beloved triyoga members.
“I began practising at triyoga in 2009, when the studio was in Primrose hill, and it’s now very much part of my daily life. As I practise ashtanga (Mysore) I am usually first to arrive at the studio and waiting patiently for them to open the door. People can set their watch by me! In fact if I am not there for any reason people wonder why. It’s a wonderful start to the day and I hope I can continue for the next 20 years.” – Ruth, Ealing student
“I work as an analyst. I’ve been doing this job for 35 years – some days are long, I can be sitting at my desk for 16 hours, as I have to be able to take calls from all over the world. Australia, US, India. And stress can be very bad. I was walking past the Ealing studio and I thought, ‘let me see what they offer’. I was a complete beginner, although I had attended yoga in my local gym in Ealing a few times. I feel like, at my age, I have got a new lease on life.” – Aurelia, Ealing student
Now, a word from our founder Jonathan…
“When we first opened, there weren’t many dedicated yoga studios in London and, compared with today, the choice of what to practise was fairly limited. We wanted to offer a place with a wide range of styles so there would be something that everyone could enjoy and benefit from.
We opened triyoga Primrose Hill on 19th February 2000. There were many trials and tribulations, from when we found the building, the day we opened, where we are now and where we’re going forward. Whatever obstacles came up, a way through emerged. I felt there was always the hand of grace guiding us. I am grateful for everyone who was involved in the early days and those who continue to keep triyoga shining today.”
