four (less familiar) treatments to try this treatments week

From 24th-30th September we will be hosting another Treatments Week across all our centres. During this time, therapists will be offering 30 minute ‘taster’ treatments for just £25, which can then be redeemed back in full when you book a full treatment with them*.

We offer a huge variety of treatments at triyoga, so this is a great way to try out something new and see what really works for you. We asked four of our therapists to explain a bit about what they offer and what to expect from their treatments.

1. TAROT READING with Dana Mayer

What is tarot reading?
Originally derived from a mid-15th century Italian divination game, tarot uses a series of universal pictorial archetypes as a way of accessing information that may be outside your conscious awareness. There are 78 cards in the tarot deck, all of which have upright and reversed meanings, as well as endless patterns into which they can be arranged depending on the information sought.

Why would I come for a tarot reading? What can tarot readings help me with?
People who come for a tarot reading are often seeking clarity or additional information about life issues. Popular topics are romance, major life decisions, house moves, career and so on. Tarot readings can help you to back up your own intuition about a situation or give a fuller picture of an issue.

What can I expect to happen during a tarot reading?
We would start by having a chat about the issues being explored and formulate a clear question to ask. A deck would then be chosen, a spread laid, and the cards relevant to the issue interpreted, with the opportunity for you to ask questions at any point in the process. During and after a reading, you would feel a greater sense of clarity – a greater awareness of possible pitfalls up ahead and the choice to take different action if need be.

2. IRIDOLOGY with Esther Lim

What is iridology?
Iridology is the analysis of health and dis-ease through the eye. The colour, textures, markings and signs in the iris reveal our constitutional make-up and the specific types of imbalance to which we are prone, plus the strengths and weaknesses of individual organs and body systems.

Why would I come for an iris reading? What can it help me with?
People often come for an iris reading to determine why they are unwell. For example, if you are unable to digest or eliminate properly, suffer from congestion or lack of energy, are prone to depression or inflammation, or just generally want more clarity around your constitution. An iris reading can indicate a problem in its earliest inception, even before the symptoms are present, by identifying the presence and location of inflammation and weaknesses.

What can I expect to happen in an iris reading?
I would use a special illuminated magnifying eye glass, known as a lupe, to look into your eye, before putting the details onto a diagnostic form and explaining the procedure with a chart. I would also provide nutritional and post care advice and may recommend a follow up reading to check any healing signs.

3. KINESIOLOGY with Julia Norina

What is kinesiology?
Kinesiology is a science of muscle testing which enables us to analyse and detect functional, physical, nutritional, energetic and emotional imbalances in the body. It addresses and treats not just symptoms but the root course of the problem.

Why would I come for a kinesiology treatment? What can kinesiology help me with?
Kinesiology can help with many conditions, such as digestive issues, chronic fatigue, frequent infections, insomnia, fertility, RSI or joint and muscle pain, headaches and migraines, food sensitivity, vitamin deficiencies, stress and anxiety and many more.

What can I expect to happen during a treatment?
My treatments include a consultation and muscle testing. For the muscle testing, I would place your limbs in different positions whilst applying a light manual pressure to test your muscle response. I follow this with a specific kind of treatment that would include massaging various lymphatic, acupressure, neuro-vascular and visceral points of the body. This stimulates lymph, blood and energy flow, which in turn helps to encourage the body’s own healing process. I finish with recommending a specific nutrition and supplement plan for you, to help with detoxification, any vitamin and mineral deficiencies and to restore emotional balance.

4. BOWEN THERAPY with Michael Patrick

What is Bowen therapy?
Bowen therapy is a gentle physical therapy involving precise manipulations of muscles, tendons ligaments, fascia and nerves.

Why would I come for a treatment? What can Bowen therapy help me with?
Bowen therapy is often used to help with back or neck pain, nerve pain and joint injury or issues with digestion, fertility, headaches and other illnesses. The Bowen ‘moves’ reset stretch receptors in the tissue and stimulate the innate healing response, helping to restore balance throughout the different systems in the body.

What can I expect to happen during a treatment?
I would take your history, do a full assessment and then follow this with a treatment. During the treatment itself, I would carry out sets of ‘moves’, followed by short gaps to allow for integration of the work. During the session you would expect to feel a profound sense of relaxation as you let go of stress related tensions and energy blocks.
