Course Details
This transformative, empowering, alignment-based hot yoga programme was created by Kristin Campbell in 2012 and first introduced to Triyoga in 2013. A fusion of Hot Hatha and Hot Hatha-Vinyasa, Kristin titled the method Tapasya (pronounced tah-pah-syah) — “to be with intensity for the sake of transformation”.
Tapasya is informed by the wisdom of modern hatha styles while preserving the intensity of traditional hot methods. The practice is active and dynamic yet intentionally non-flowing: there are no Sun Salutations and minimal linking poses — postures are held statically for specific, timed durations, and each standing posture is followed by a moment of rest in Tadasana, balancing effort with surrender. Carefully structured to promote joint safety, the sequence has been reviewed and endorsed by physiotherapists — intelligent, accessible and suitable for practitioners of all levels. Over time it builds stamina, endurance and the capacity to find calm within intensity (the room is heated to around 40°C at roughly 40% humidity).
- Twice-daily hot classes to deepen your practice + illuminate key teaching principles
- Tapasya philosophy + methodology
- Sequencing principles for 60- and 75-minute Hot Hatha classes
- Asana labs exploring alignment principles in key postures
- Anatomy + physiology for hot yoga, with ethics + lifestyle considerations
- Teaching skills: demonstrations, verbal cueing, assisting + cultivating presence
- Practice teaching with personalised attention + supportive feedback
- How to work with injuries
This is not Bikram — though many Bikram-trained teachers have appreciated the approach — and it is not teaching from a script. You’ll learn a set series, but you’re encouraged to teach from your own embodied experience, with freedom, adaptability and variation within the sequence framework.
Pricing
£650 early bird (until 30 September) / £700 standard — instalments available: 4 × £175.
