Course Details
A specialist training in teaching pregnancy yoga safely and confidently — open to yoga teachers, practitioners with at least two years of continuous practice, midwives and doulas. Taught by Susannah Hoffman with dedicated midwifery input from independent midwife Irene Vine, the training pairs deep anatomical understanding with the art of holding an empowering, nurturing space.
- Anatomy + physiology: the physical and hormonal changes of each trimester, pelvic health + stability, and optimal fetal positioning
- Asana: trimester-specific sequencing, safe modifications with props, contraindications — including relaxin, SPD and the grey areas (squatting, pelvic floor)
- Pranayama, meditation + relaxation: breath and sound for pregnancy and labour, visualisation, affirmations + yoga nidra, and regulating the nervous system for a calm pregnancy and birth
- Birth preparation + empowerment: active birth techniques, birth positions, partner work, and trauma-aware teaching that honours each student’s process
- Professional practice: planning 60–75 minute pre- and postnatal classes, ethics + when to refer, health questionnaires and building a safe, welcoming, inclusive business

Meet our teachers

Susannah has been teaching yoga for nearly 30 years and pregnancy yoga at Triyoga since 2005. A mother and experienced doula, she trained with the renowned obstetrician Michel Odent and has attended over 17 births — including delivering a baby who arrived quicker than the midwife.
She began teaching pregnancy yoga after discovering how much it helped her during her own pregnancy — and that lived experience runs through everything she teaches.
Irene is an independent midwife with over 12 years of experience in the maternity world, covering Suffolk, Essex, East London and Cambridge. She first trained as a doula in 2013, became a student midwife at Basildon Hospital, then worked as a midwife in the community and the birth centre in Romford. In 2024 she became an independent private midwife — practising what she describes as the most authentic form of midwifery.
