Course Details
The Dynamic Pilates Foundation Training is a 350-hour hybrid programme from SHP Health, delivered in partnership with Triyoga — blending traditional matwork Pilates foundations with dynamic, standing-based movement for modern bodies. Grounded in physiotherapy and movement science, the method bridges the gap between rehabilitation, fitness and mindful movement — integrating classical Pilates principles with contemporary biomechanics and evidence-based practice.
You’ll develop not only what to teach, but a clear understanding of why — empowering you to create inclusive, adaptable classes that respond to real bodies, real needs and real life.
- Complete matwork foundations: technique, cueing + class design
- Dynamic, standing-based movement emphasising strength, mobility + balance
- Anatomy + movement science, taught by chartered physiotherapists
- Supervised teaching practice, guided self-practice + client work projects
- Three mentoring sessions with personal feedback + ongoing instructor and physiotherapist support
- 20 hours of class observation (minimum 10 in SHP Dynamic Pilates classes) — Dynamic + matwork classes at Triyoga count, and the on-demand library makes the SHP hours easy to fit in
- 150-page downloadable course manuals + 12 months’ access to the online class library
- 12-month SHP Dynamic Pilates affiliate membership on completion
Whether you’re beginning your teaching journey or deepening your understanding of movement, you’ll be supported to teach safely, confidently and with purpose. No previous qualifications are required — around a year of regular Pilates practice is recommended (minimum age 16) — and the course is completed within one year of enrolment, so it fits around work.
The method was founded and is directed by chartered physiotherapists Helen Barcellona and Dr Massimo Barcellona — PhD and Consultant Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at King’s College Hospital — and SHP Health is a CIMSPA Education Partner and a YMCA approved training centre.

Meet our teachers

Helen leads the Dynamic Pilates Foundation Training — a chartered physiotherapist and Pilates instructor with over 20 years in the health and wellbeing industry, and a genuine passion for mentoring the next generation of Pilates teachers. She leads the development of the SHP Dynamic Pilates Method itself, translating anatomy, biomechanics and movement science into practical, accessible teaching that works for real bodies.
As Course Lead she is known for a calm, encouraging teaching style that makes complex concepts feel clear, relevant and achievable — a friendly, client-centred approach that helps trainees ask questions freely and build the skills to teach safely, inclusively and with confidence in real-world settings.

Laura teaches across the programme and mentors trainees as Course Mentor — a chartered musculoskeletal physiotherapist and Pilates instructor, trained in Pilates, Barre and SHP Dynamic Pilates, and known for a warm, approachable and highly supportive teaching style that makes it easy to ask questions and build confidence.
Drawing on her background as a physiotherapist and endurance athlete, she helps trainees apply evidence-based movement principles in a practical, realistic way — and she is passionate about helping people keep doing the activities they love, or discover a love of Pilates, through intelligent, empowering and accessible movement.

Dual certification: YMCA Level 3 + SHP
Successful completion leads to the Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork (YMCA Awards) and full certification as an SHP Dynamic Pilates instructor — a nationally recognised qualification pairing, plus a 12-month SHP Dynamic Pilates affiliate membership.
