Course Details
A comprehensive 50-hour yin yoga training with an in-depth focus on functional anatomy — designed for yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners, blending Eastern wisdom with Western anatomical understanding. Led by Cal Wansbrough, whose teaching draws on years of experience, extensive anatomy training and studies in Chinese medicine, it will renew your confidence in teaching a variety of styles and equip you to work effectively with diverse body types.
What is yin yoga? A slow, floor-based practice that uses long-held stretches to rebalance the body — profoundly relaxing and re-energising at once. It stimulates the vital energy — prana, or Qi — to flow through the meridian lines, believed to sit deep within the fascial tissue, restoring health and wellbeing while helping to prevent disease. Rooted in the philosophy of Chinese medicine, it is distinct from every other style of yoga.
- Teach yin yoga effectively, competently + safely, in any setting
- Functional anatomy you can feel: ranges of motion, tension vs compression, and how skeletal variation changes every pose in every body
- The principles of Chinese medicine: Qi, yin + yang, the Five Elements, the 10 organs + the 12 meridian channels
- How specific yin poses influence particular meridians and organs — physically, mentally and emotionally
- Modifications, adjustments + your responsibilities as a yoga teacher
Learning blends visual materials, repetition, kinaesthetic learning and direct experience through self-practice and work with classmates — because yoga anatomy cannot be learned from a textbook; it needs to be felt and experienced. In Cal’s words, expect “a full exploration of you, your body, your self”. Space is limited — book early to avoid disappointment.
What past trainees say:
“Your knowledge of anatomy is outstanding and your teaching and presentation of such a dry subject is fun and engaging… There is a special skill in this and you have it — I am in awe!” — Ali Masterman, yoga teacher
“It breathed new life into all my teaching. I felt confident to go out and start teaching yin straight away… I highly recommend this course.” — Katie Fobbester, yoga teacher
“Cal has enormous knowledge and experience of yoga, anatomy and nutrition but also a deep understanding of the profound esoteric philosophies, which she beautifully imparts through her teaching.” — CB, NHS consultant

Meet our teachers

Cal came to yoga 30 years ago and is a highly experienced, 500-hour certified yoga teacher. Having previously taught many forms of yoga — power, vinyasa, hatha and pre/post-natal — she now teaches exclusively yin, and is passionate about spreading its magic: in her words, “Yin is like giving yourself a warm hug, a therapeutic stretch and massage all at the same time”.
Cal trained with Paul and Suzee Grilley, known as “the godparents of Yin”, and has completed extensive anatomy trainings. Alongside her work as an anatomy and yin yoga teacher, she is a qualified Yoga Life Coach, Reiki practitioner and acupuncturist (College of Integrated Chinese Medicine).
