trauma-informed practitioner training
<
overview
Trauma, or what we might also call wounding, is a universal human experience. It touches all of us in different ways. As practitioners and space holders, creating environments that feel safe, compassionate and inclusive is essential.
This immersive training invites you into a deeply experiential process where you will not only learn about trauma-informed practice, but begin to embody it. Through a blend of theory, somatic exploration and practical tools, you’ll develop a grounded understanding of nervous system regulation and how to support others with sensitivity and care. You will benefit from training with a small, intimate group and receive mentorship throughout.
Alongside this, you’ll be guided through your own inner work — building resilience within your own system and deepening the way you show up, both personally and professionally. This is as much a journey of personal transformation as it is a professional training, with impact that extends into your work, your clients and your wider community.
As one past participant shared:
“I am not the same person I was when I started this training.”
You’ll leave with the confidence to hold trauma-informed spaces with presence, awareness and integrity, rooted in both lived experience and practical understanding.
“This training has been not only essential to my practice as a teacher and creative facilitator, but also to my understanding of myself as a human being.” – Katie, Acting Tutor
“This training should be considered essential, not just for yoga teachers and bodyworkers, but for anyone because this is the most impactful and vital work you can ever do on yourself!” – Laura, Yoga

Course Syllabus | 6 Modules
1. Trauma Theory 101: Through the Somatic Lens
Overview:
This foundational module introduces trauma through a somatic lens, exploring how it is held in the body and expressed through the nervous system. You’ll learn the principles of holding a trauma-informed space, clarify your role as a practitioner and be introduced to somatic mapping. The module also covers nervous system support, intake processes and the importance of ongoing self-study. Practice will focus on developing awareness of interoceptive feedback and beginning to establish a felt sense of safety within the body.
2. Biomechanics of Breath: Nervous System Theory
Overview:
This module deepens your understanding of the nervous system through breath and body awareness. You’ll be introduced to polyvagal theory, including the ventral vagal, sympathetic and dorsal vagal states, alongside the impact of hormonal shifts. The module also covers the stress response cycle and how stress is resolved in the wild. The practice is breath-based, developing your ability to recognise patterns of regulation and dysregulation in both yourself and your clients.
3. The Hidden Language of the Body: Language, Listening & Learning
Overview:
This module explores the signals the body sends us, through learning to speak a different language: that of sensation. You’ll learn to recognise differences in nervous system expression, language patterns and learning styles, while developing skills in trauma-informed language, conscious communication and active listening. The module also covers grounding, resourcing and holding clear boundaries within both group and one-to-one spaces. Practice will focus on building nervous system resilience, gently expanding your capacity to hold sensation, emotion and shared experiences.
4. The Power of Touch: Boundaries, Consent & Connection
Overview:
This module explores the power of touch as a tool for regulation, connection and support. You’ll learn about co-regulation, the role of fascia and principles such as yielding, alongside understanding the different types and impacts of touch. The module emphasises consent, boundaries and recognising your own ‘no’, helping you differentiate between support and overwhelm. Practice will be hands-on, focusing on safe and appropriate ways to offer physical support to yourself and clients, while continuing to build awareness through self-exploration.
5. Emotional Release: Processing, Presence & Regulation
Overview:
This module explores emotional release through the lenses of processing, presence and regulation. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of how to work within the window of tolerance, allowing you to skilfully distinguish between supportive release and re-traumatisation. The module also covers practical coping strategies, trauma-sensitive sequencing and the impactful role of music in facilitating safe emotional expression. The practice component is a deeply immersive, music-guided experience, inviting you to explore the edges of your capacity while remaining anchored in the safety of full body awareness.
6. Energetic Hygiene, Assessments & Review
Overview:
This final module brings together and integrates the key learnings from the course, supporting you to step forward with greater clarity and confidence with your offerings. You’ll explore energetic hygiene and look at practices for grounding, shielding and clearing. The module also covers integration, reflection on your future offerings and a mini assessment, with feedback to support you in taking what you have learned and embodied into the people you serve and into the world around you.
