massage

Swedish

A traditional massage using a medium pressure to aid relaxation

Deep tissue

This is a massage technique that works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Similar to Swedish massage, deep tissue massage uses slower, firmer strokes and pressure than other treatments. It involves deep finger pressure that concentrates on particular areas and follows or goes across the fibers of muscles and tendons. Often used medically by physiotherapists and chiropractors, helps to refresh and relax muscles, increasing the blood flow and therefore the oxygen flow around the body. This gets rid of toxins in very sore and strained muscles, which helps them to strengthen and heal.

Pregnancy

Suitable for clients in their 3rd trimester onward

manual lymphatic drainage (MLD)

A gentle technique that works through the body’s fluid system to activate the circulation of the tissues and stimulate the functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems. These subtle manual manoeuvres activate lymph and interstitial fluid circulation, reducing oedemas and detoxifying the body. Some of the disorders that can be treated with manual lymphatic drainage are; fluid retention conditions, swollen tissue conditions, arthritis, sinus problems, sprains and injuries (where manual lymphatic drainage is a very useful adjunct to physiotherapy) and post cancer therapy

myofascial release & neuromuscular therapy

Myofascial
Fascia is a tough tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone, organ, nerve, + blood vessel in the body. Myofascial release is a highly effective form of structural bodywork which seeks to create good function by undoing fascial restrictions, which may have occurred from injury, inflammation, as well as over time from poor postural habits or repetitive motion. Therapist works using slow, steady pressure with minimal oil or lotion, locking into the restricted tissue until release occurs. Therapist may use subtle or indirect work, deep and direct work, as well as active or passive client movement. Myofascial release creates greater mobility and function, relieves pain, gives new freedom to movement and a sense of ease and space within the body.

Neuromuscular
This therapy is a mix of trigger point therapy, myofascial release and muscle energy technique. This therapy brings balance to the nervous and muscular-skeletal systems to alleviate pain and return injure tissues to normal function. A holistic approach, it utilizes specific, targeted soft tissue treatment, flexibility stretching and self-care to eliminate the causes of most muscular aches and pains.
